Stuck withdrawal or dispute with a Michigan online casino: what to do
If a withdrawal is stuck or you think a casino app broke its own rules, Michigan has a formal complaint path, but only forlicensed operators. Here is the process exactly as the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) describes it.
How long should a Michigan online casino withdrawal take?
There is no single answer. Timing depends on the operator and the payment method, and the MGCB pages we checked do not set a standard withdrawal time. We do not publish per-operator withdrawal times, because we cannot verify them from an official source.
- Check the operator’s own help or banking pages. Reach the brand through the web address on MGCB’s authorized providers list, not through ads or search results.
- If a withdrawal is pending longer than the operator says it should be, ask support in writing (email or chat you can save) why, and what they need from you.
- If that does not fix it, use the complaint steps below.
How do I check that a Michigan online casino is licensed?
Do this first, because the MGCB complaint process only helps with licensed sites. Per MGCB, only operators licensed by the MGCB are authorized to legally offer online gaming services in Michigan. ItsLegal vs. Illegal Gaming page lists the licensed internet gaming and sports betting websites, plus sites it has sent cease-and-desist letters to. MGCB notes that listis not exhaustive.
A familiar name is not proof. In January 2024, MGCB announced cease-and-desist letters to three companies offering online gaming in Michigan without a license, including Sweepstakes Limited (Stake.us) and VGW LuckyLand (MGCB release, January 18, 2024).

How do I file a complaint with a Michigan online casino about a withdrawal or dispute?
Step 1: complain to the operator, in writing. Per MGCB:
- You may file a written complaint with the relevant operator or platform provider if you believe the internet gaming law or the site’s terms of service were not followed.
- Complaint filing instructions are found on all platform providers’ websites.
- The operator or platform provider must investigate and provide you with a written response within 10 calendar days.
Write down the date you sent the complaint. MGCB’s page does not say what to do if no written response arrives within 10 calendar days; if that happens, contact MGCB and keep proof of the date you filed.

When can I file a complaint with the Michigan Gaming Control Board?
Step 2: take it to MGCB. Per MGCB:
- If the complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction and you have taken all reasonable means to resolve it with the operator or platform provider, you may submit a complaint to MGCB using its Patron Dispute Form (use the internet gaming / online sports wagering forms).
- Include the operator’s response and any supporting documentation.
- MGCB cannot consider a complaint about violations of the internet gaming law or terms of service until you have filed a written complaint with the operator or platform provider and received a written response.

What records should I keep for a withdrawal dispute?
MGCB asks for the operator’s response and supporting documentation. It does not publish a checklist, so here is ours. Save theseas it happens:
- Screenshots of the withdrawal request and each status change, with the date and time visible.
- The amount, the payment method, and any transaction, reference or ticket numbers.
- Support chats and emails (export or screenshot the full thread).
- A copy of your written complaint and the date you sent it.
- The part of the site’s terms you believe was not followed, as it read at the time (screenshot or saved page).
- The operator’s written response, which MGCB asks you to include.
Can the MGCB help with a withdrawal from an unlicensed or offshore casino?
MGCB’s patron dispute process is for complaints against licensed Michigan operators and platform providers. When it announced the 2024 cease-and-desist letters, MGCB’s executive director said players on unregulated sites are left vulnerable with“no recourse.”
- Report illegal or suspicious gambling activity to MGCB: tip line 1-888-314-2682 orMIGamblingTip@michigan.gov(MGCB page).
- Before depositing anywhere, check the site against MGCB’s licensed list (see above).
